Alcavis International, Inc. was incorporated in Maryland in January 1994 under the name Amuchina International, Inc. It was eight years later that the name Alcavis International was adopted.

Amuchina International was the sister company of Amuchina S.p.A., headquartered in Genova, Italy.
Amuchina S.p.A. and the Amuchina product line lead the antisepsis and disinfectant markets in Europe.

Amuchina S.p.A. was established in 1939 and continues to be successful thanks to a proprietary technology to produce chlorine derivative products through partial electrolysis. The chlorine disinfectants produced in this way are more effective, safer and stable. Our sodium hypochloridte chlorite based solutions are available in varying strengths. The applications include antisepsis of burns, wounds, catheter exit sites or intact skin, to disinfection of medical devices including vascular caps and connections, hemodialysis components, dialyzer reprocessing and surface decontamination for medical, laboratory, veterinary, food preparation and school uses.

When new to the American market in the 1990's, Amuchina International focused on developing a relationship with the FDA and EPA, obtaining approvals for the products that prove successful in today's marketplace. We continue to work closely with these agencies during new product application processes. Our Italian based plant follows the most stringent GMP's (Good Manufacturing Practices) is ISO certified, FDA approved and EU (European Authorities) approved.

Today, Alcavis International, Inc. operates in the U.S. with the aid of a network of distributors throughout the country as well as Canadian, Mexican and Central American based representatives and distributorships. BHC Medical, based in Mississauga Ontario (www.bhcmedical.ca) and Laboratorios PISA S.A. de C.V. Guadalajara jalisco (www.pisa.com.mx) are Alcavis partners in these countries.

In January of 2008,
Alcavis International, Inc. and HDC Medical, Inc. merged to form a new company…Alcavis HDC, LLC. Hugh Doss founded HDC Medical, Inc. as a sub-chapter S Corporation in 1997, after many years working as a manufacturer’s representative in the dialysis industry and as an owner of dialysis clinics. He began a career in dialysis working for DRAKE-WILLOCK as a sales representative. Within two years he was the sales and service manager for a 23 state area in the Midwest and northeast. He left DRAKE-WILLOCK shortly after they were acquired by Becton-Dickinson in 1997, to unite with several other luminary individuals, Ron Marshall, Sam Owen, Gary Brown, etc., to form a rep organization for the dialysis industry.

HDC Medical, Inc. was started specifically to offer the dialysis marketplace a choice of peracetic acids, by offering Peracidin for reprocessing dialyzers. HDC has been marketing Peracidin-a peracidic acid cleared for use in any dialyzer reprocessing system, automated or manual since 1998. HDC introduced the MAKY 21.1 reprocessing machine in 2004: an FDA-cleared, efficient, cost effective, table top system compatible with Peracidin.
